Remember to take your cv or resume and any other relevant documents with you.
Keep your documents near to you but do not hold them.
If the vid con system is a split screen make sure that you minimise the screen showing yourself, you do not want to be distracted by a large picture of yourself staring back at you.
Ask the technician to help you or adjust your screen if you are at home.
Remember to take the number of the vid con supplier with you especially if you are arriving outside of office hours.
Remember to take the name, number and email of the contact person at the company interviewing you in case of any problems or technical faults. You may also end up having some or all
of the interview by phone only.
Video conferencing technology is not always perfect. Please tell the interviewer of any technical problems with the audio or visual feedback. You only have one chance to excel and it
would be unfortunate to lose out simply as the picture has frozen and the interviewer things that you are just staring at him or you miss certain crucial questions. Do not be afraid of
telling them as it could be the difference between an offer and rejection.
It is difficult to develop a rapport over a tv screen so concentrate on what you say and keep your expressions and mannerisms to a minumim.
Focus the screen on your head and shoulders. Nobody wants to see you fiddling with a pen or repeatedly crossing and uncrossing your legs. These are distractions and a sign of nerves
which a video conference can help you to hide. Use the technology to your advantage.
