Incorporated Legal Practice


Gold Coast solicitors Attwood Marshall is an incorporated legal practice in Queensland in accordance with the Legal Profession Act 2007 in that State. The Legal Practice Director is Jeff Garrett, who is also the Managing Partner of the firm.

Professional Staff and Convenient Office Locations

We currently have a total of 51 staff members which includes 29 producers or fee earners and over 20 qualified lawyers and licensed conveyancers. We also have a number of law graduates and clerks who are studying law. Significantly, over 50% of the staff employed by our firm resides within the Tweed Shire Council area. Attwood Marshall Lawyers ranked 38 in the 2010 BRW 50 Best Places to Work list. Integrity, understanding and responsibility play a key factor why Attwood Marshall is a great place to work.

The main office of our law firm is located in the Showcase Building in
Coolangatta. We have occupied this office space since the building was erected in 1989. In March of this year, we opened our Kingscliff office at 1b Pearl Street, Kingscliff which houses a NSW licensed conveyancer and three other lawyers. We have just agreed to take office space at Robina Town Centre as part of a general expansion of the firm in the immediate area.

Specialist Departments

Our Gold Coast law firm is made up of
four specialist departments headed up by either a partner or a senior specialist lawyer in that area. This enables us to provide an all round service to our clients and still retain the ability to provide specialist advice within the areas of each department.

The four specialist departments include:

  • Property and Commercial Department
  • Wills and Estates Department
  • Family Law Department
  • Insurance Litigation Department

 

Department Manager System

Each of Attwood Marshalls’ departments is headed by a Department Manager which ensures that any incoming enquiries are immediately directed to the right person by our receptionist. The Department Manager will qualify the client who is making the enquiry and confirm that it is a matter that we can help them with.

The Department Manager will then make an appointment for the client to see a Lawyer and take care of all the necessary arrangements. Once you have retained us to act on your behalf, you will have access to your Lawyer or Paralegal through a direct telephone number and direct email address. None of our Lawyers or Fee Earners has secretaries and hopefully this improves communication with the person looking after you. In the event that your Lawyer or Paralegal is unavailable due to work commitments or illness, the Department Manager is there to assist you.


Electronic Office Systems

Gold Coast solicitors, Attwood Marshall has always been at the forefront of office technology and we have recently implemented a paperless office with the help of our new Legal Practice Management System (LawMaster). All incoming electronic documents are captured and allocated to the appropriate file. The LawMaster system is a relational database and has an excellent filing system for electronic documents. We can easily find any document within seconds by searching either its content or its description. Every person has access to the central database and all documents contained within it. Lawyers can access the system remotely from anywhere in the world and at any time. All incoming physical mail is scanned into the system and stored electronically. Wherever possible, our lawyers and staff communicate electronically and we generally avoid compiling paper copies of files where this is possible.

The net effect of these systems is that
corporate clients achieve a huge savings in relation to their soft disbursements including cost of photocopying, postage, facsimile fees and storage costs. Communications are more often than not instantaneous from the time they are received and this promotes the time actioning of client matters.

We are developing our system to be
accessible to our clients via a web interface and hope to launch this later this year. This will give our clients access to their files, allowing them to check on the progress of their matter and obtain copies of relevant documents, resulting in huge savings in costs.

Should you require hard copies of any correspondence we are happy to oblige but, wherever possible, we encourage our clients to utilise the electronic systems.
