You know that Browne Jacobson is a law firm. For the record, we believe we are a great law firm.
We have:
National reach but roots in the Midlands – our offices in Nottingham, Birmingham and London provide access to first rate lawyers without the London price tag
Balanced client mix - one third insurance, one third commercial and one third public sector, allowing our lawyers to share knowledge across these sectors and offer complete legal solutions
Experience across a wide variety of sectors - from local authorities, health and insurance to corporates and charities
Dedicated specialist client teams – working together to provide access to a full range of commercial and public sector legal services
Over 260 lawyers including 69 partners - supported by a team of professional specialists who ensure our firm operates efficiently
We’ve quadrupled in size in the last ten years - our client portfolio and our reputation reflects this
Punching above our weight – MPF 2008 ‘top 100 best professional firms to work for’, Best Companies ‘one-to-watch 2008’
Low staff turnover rates - well below the industry average
A partnership approach - our top 20 clients have remained with us for an average of 13 years each
Corporate Social Responsibility
We know corporate social responsibility is something you value. We do too. To us, it means being a great place to work, a great partner to work with, supporting our local communities and thinking about the impact we have on the environment;
Encouraging our people to get involved in the local community – for instance teaming with The Prince’s Trust to improve confidence and skills in young people
Long-standing supplier relationships – that are mutually beneficial with local businesses
Contributing corporate citizen - memberships to AWM, CBI, Institute of Directors, Greater Nottingham Partnership Regeneration
Responsible use of resources - dedicated group of ‘green’ champions, filtered water not bottled, saver plugs, movement sensors, reduced paper usage by three tonnes this year,
Video conferencing and phone meetings
Benefits that really reflect how much we value our people - their wellbeing, financial security and families, for example Tommy’s pregnancy accredited
Taking the development of our people seriously - recognising that our strength stems from our people, reflected in our long standing IIP status and industry awards
Commitment to diversity and equal opportunities - proudly publishing our annual diversity stats and receiving a 'positive about disabled people' accreditation.
Awards
As a firm, we believe in being judged by what our people have achieved and not what we say. In 2010 we were winners of the ‘best graduate recruitment campaign’ at The Lawyer HR Awards 2010 as well as being awarded the Lexcel quality mark. In 2009 37 of our lawyers were listed as leading individuals in Chambers and we were ranked first or second in 14 practice areas. In Legal 500 we were ranked first or joint first in 19 practice areas. Last year we also received the Nottinghamshire Law Society Young Solicitor of the Year Award 2009 and were awarded eight rosettes in Lex 100 Student Guide to UK Law Firms.
